The SkillSelect process
SkillSelect is an online service that allows skilled workers to express their interest in coming to Australia to work. The Australian government uses it to manage the skilled migration program for a range of visas.
The SkillSelect process involves the following steps:
Eligibility assessment: To be eligible to use SkillSelect, you must meet certain criteria, including having a relevant occupation on the Skilled Occupation List, obtaining a skills assessment, meeting the requirements for English language proficiency and the minimum passmark.
Expression of Interest (EOI): If you are eligible, you can create an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the SkillSelect system. An EOI is a statement of your interest in coming to Australia to work. It includes information about your skills, qualifications, and work experience.
Invitation to apply: If your EOI is selected, you will be invited to apply for a skilled visa. The invitation will include details about the visa for which you are eligible and the deadline for submitting your application.
Visa application: If you receive an invitation, you can then apply for the relevant skilled visa through the Department of Home Affairs. You will need to provide supporting documentation and meet the requirements for the visa.
It's important to note that the SkillSelect process is highly competitive and there is no guarantee that you will receive an invitation to apply for a skilled visa, even if you meet the eligibility criteria. The number of invitations issued is based on the needs of the Australian labor market and the number of places available under the skilled migration program.
