NSW Introduces Regional Work Visa Pathway for Established Workers

The NSW Government has opened Pathway 1 under the Skilled Work Regional Subclass 491 program,   This pathway specifically targets individuals with an established work history with a regional NSW-based employer. The primary goal is to support those who are already actively contributing to regional NSW and have been employed in the region for at least 12 months.

Pathway 1 entails additional criteria compared to other pathways:

- Applicants must currently reside and work in a designated regional area of NSW, consistently doing so for the past year.

- The applicant's skilled employment during the preceding twelve months must be with a single regional NSW-based employer, in the nominated or closely related occupation.

- The occupation must be recognized as skilled by NSW.

- The position must offer compensation meeting or exceeding the minimum Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) of $70,000 annually, prorated if the employment is less than 38 hours per week, as per the qualifying employer's payment.

Applicant must still meet the basic eligibility criteria to lodge to apply for nomination under pathway 1.
