Changes to Subclass 476 Visa Program: Capped Allocations
The Subclass 476 visa offers recent engineering graduates the opportunity to reside, work, and study in Australia for a maximum of 18 months, provided they have completed a specified degree from a designated institution.
Starting from December 22, 2023, a cap has been imposed on this visa, allowing a maximum of 3735 visas to be granted during the 2023/2024 migration program year. Any applications submitted after this date will be deemed invalid.
Once the allocated number of visas has been reached, the government will cease considering further applications. Once the cap is reached, the government will not consider pending Subclass 476 applications. Applications considered invalid can apply for a refund of the Department of Home Affairs Visa fee.
Initially designed to support the mining and minerals sector by attracting engineering graduates, there are now alternative pathways for internationally trained engineers to work in Australia.
