Changes to “Specified Work” for Working Holiday Visas

working holiday visa

Starting February 2, 2024, Working Holiday Makers can now count paid or volunteer work towards natural disaster recovery efforts as 'specified work' when applying for a second or third WHM visa. This includes work performed in declared disaster areas affected by cyclones or severe weather.

Eligible WHMs must have undertaken this work from December 31, 2021, onwards in recognised disaster-affected regions.

Additionally, the Department of Home Affairs will maintain recognition for bushfire recovery work conducted since July 31, 2019, and flood recovery work performed since December 31, 2021.
