482 Visa Holder - Permanent Residency Pathway Update

In April 2023, the Government unveiled its plan to expand the permanent residency avenues within the Employer Sponsored Visa program for Subclass 482 visa holders, with the goal of implementing these changes by the end of 2023.

While Subclass 482 visa holders are eagerly anticipating insights into their available options, the Government has not yet released any legislative updates regarding these changes. .

In their initial announcement, the Government outlined the introduction of a pathway for all Subclass 482 visa holders through the Subclass 186 Temporary Transition Stream. Presently, unless specific concessions apply, only those with occupations listed in the Medium to Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) have access to a permanent residency visa option.

The Department of Home Affairs has advised they intend to release a facsheet outlining the changes in the coming weeks.
