TOEFL Paper based test removed for Student Visas
The TOEFL-PBT (paper based test) as an accepted English language test for Subclass 500 (Student) visa applications due to the test's inability to measure the English language speaking skills of an applicant.
There are transitional arrangements for students who have already completed TOEFL-PBT.
The TOEFL-PBT can still be accepted in the following instances:
completed the TOEFL-PBT before 14 October 2017;
achieved the specified TOFEL-PBT test specified score within 2 years immediately before the date of the visa application; or
if no evidence of English is provided at the time of application, the test can be provided prior to a decision provided the test is completed 2 years prior at the time of decision.
OR
completed the test on or after 14 October 2017, but before commencement of the new Instrument, and achieved the required score either
2 years immediately before the date of lodging the Subclass 500 visa, if evidence of the test is provided at time of application, or
2 years immediately before the visa decision is made, if evidence of the test is not provided at the time of application, and
if requested by the Minister, gives additional evidence of the applicant's English language proficiency as specified in the Minister's request.
