Priority Processing
As of 5 December 2016, passport holders from India and United Arab Emirates (UAE) can request priority processing of their Subclass 600 (Visitor) visa application in either the Tourist or the Business Visitor stream. Passport holders from China have had access to priority processing since March 2016.
The priority processing fee is $1000, and can be applied for at one of the Australian Visa Application Centre in the applicant's country. The majority of priority processing applications will be finalised within 48 hours of being received by the Australian High Commission. However, if further information is required in relation to an application, then the application may be delayed. If there is a delay, or if the the visa application is refused, the priority processing fee will not be refunded.
If applicants are affected by adverse personal circumstances the visa application may be delayed. Circumstances that may delay the application are:
character issues (such as adverse immigration or criminal history)
medical checks required due to:
Known medical condition
Stay of more than 3 months
Aged visitors (applicants over 75 years old
Persons likely to enter a hospital environment, health care environment or a classroom
Persons likely to work in child care centre
Persons likely to work as a doctor, dentist, nurse and paramedic (and students of these professions)
under 18 years of age without parental consent to travel
