Good News for Work and Holiday Visa Holders


Changes to the Subclass 462 visa are due to be introduced on 19th November 2016.


The Subclass 462 – Work and Holiday Visa is available to young people aged between 18 but not yet 31 who hold a passport from Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, China – Peoples Republic, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, United States and Uruguay.


The 462 visa allows a 12 month stay in Australia from the date you enter Australia on the visa. The visa allows you to work for up to 6 months with each employer.


The changes will allow 462 visa holders to apply for a second work and holiday visa if they complete at least 3 months of specified work in regional Australia. It is important to check the specified work and regional area meet the requirements before commencing the 3 months employment.


The second visa was previously restricted to holders of the 417 working holiday visa.


These changes will only apply to applications lodged after 19 November 2016.
